Passional life in NYJC
GUO DONGSHAN
This is my third day in NYJC. Though three days are not a long time, I actually feel the passion of NYJC's students.
Classes here and those in China are both quiet, no one talks while a teacher is speaking. However, we can often see students sleeping between classes or even in class, which is not surprising. Chinese students are well known for overwork and overstress. Unlike students in China, I find that all students here are quite concentrated in class. They do not seem to be so tired even under the stress of "A" level examination. Here are pictures I took from a class and a morning meeting:
Another thing also makes me feel their passion in school life. During a long break, we attended a spontaneus class meeting, which was not a normal one. Everyone came with food and sat in a circle.
Since it was the begining of a term, they started with introducing theirselves one by one. After that, they had a heated discussion about the design of their own class's T-shirt. I was told that it was their tradition to do so. Designing a class's T-shirt is rather an enjoyment than a burden for them. Here is a picture of their discussion :
I really admire Singaporen students' passion, which may be the biggest gain I got during these days in NYJC.
